Description

The Arborist was born as the silicon side of the former Giganteum Drive, offering excellent discrete transistor tones in the same package as our Germanium boost. We've repackaged the circuit in a familiar top-mount jack and slim enclosure for more pedalboard friendly use. The Arborist is a perfectly balanced medium gain drive pedal that is mostly happy pushing your tube amp into sweet overdrive or as a tone shaping tool in drive stacking. You can dial the gain all the way back and use the loads of gain on tap with the volume control to annihilate the front end of your amp. Dial the volume back and turn the gain control up to get that sweet, sweet transistor overdrive. The tone control is wired in classic Spruce Effects fashion, with thin and trebly CCW, and beefy and low-end heavy on the CW side. Use the fat toggle to add low-mids in to perfectly match your guitar and amp needs.

The "fat" toggle switch adds low-mids back in for even more beef when you need it

Power

We always recommend isolated power supplies. If you daisy chain effects on one supply or use a low-quality product, you may inject noise, ripple, ground loop hum, etc. This effect requires 9v, center negative power. In other words, the industry standard power supply. Current draw: 2.6mA

Hello friends! This is our first blog. We hope to make it a weekly occurrence to inform y'all about what we are doing outside of sales-based newsletters. This one will be about a secret release we've been working on. It's a big one, so tighten your belts.

We released the Americana Series a couple of years ago and it's been a pretty decent success, all things considered. We set out to create a boutique lineup that was high-end, vintage inspired, and honored the national parks highlighted on the pedal. There is so much noise (no pun!) in the vintage/NOS building world, and we got bored of the straight clones or the clone derivatives that were built in the style of fuzz face, tonebender, insert whatever here. Nothing against those pedals, as they all sound great and do cool stuff--we just wanted to do something a bit different using NOS/rare parts that hadn't really been done before.

About 6 months ago, we realized the National Parks theme was limited in scope--what about all of the cool natural spaces that weren't covered in National Parks? Namely, the ones we love in our home state of California. There are SO many. So we envisioned the second wave of Americana. The States Series! We met up with Jordan from Pine-Box and had a chat--he was into it. So we designed a new series that was much like the original, but smaller, more streamlined, and a little bit cheaper. The Americana States Series will come in sustainable packaging, be cheaper, and more abundant due to the easier building situation. We plan on doing our state proud by releasing the first 4 as California state parks: Anza Borrego, Limekiln, Emerald Bay, and Ano Nuevo. All 4 of these parks are incredibly special to me and Katie, as we've had significant life events at each one. Anza Borrego is the desert park we camp at most Februaries, and took Owyn, our oldest daugher when she was 2 months old. We have so many memories in this epic park, I couldn't even begin to recount them.

Limekiln is a park in Big Sur that we hold near and dear, and have camped and visited many times. The view from under the Limekiln Creek bridge is breathtaking. Big Sur is world famous, but it's one of those places many people overlook when visiting California. It's hard to get to, but worth it. It's where the mountains meet the sea.

Emerald Bay is literally out of a story book. Lake Tahoe is amazing, full stop--but this little bay is where Katie and I had a special event for our work when we first started there. We were lucky enough to cruise the bay on a vintage Italian speedboat, and it's been cemented in my mind ever since. The water is unbelievable. Fannette Island is out of a storybook. Tahoe is incredible, but Emerald Bay is extra special.

Ano Nuevo is interesting. Over 10 years ago, Katie and I went there for the first time to see the Elephant Seals, and it was intense. They are wild creatures who congregate at this state park to sunbathe, mate, and moult. All of those processes are impressive in their own right. One of them is frightening, but still beautiful.

We are designing this series to be more sustainable than the regular Americana series--both in cost/efficiency, and materials used. We are limiting plastics and other unrecyclable materials, and ditched as much physical mass as possible, while maintaining the aesthetic and design properties we value. For each pedal sold, our partner, Woodchuck USA, plants a tree. We will also be ramping up our donation efforts for each run.
